Day of the Dead Gala Suite

This suite of branded materials was created for the First Annual Hispanic Family Foundation Gala. The theme for the gala was Day of the Dead. This event was held to collect donations for the Hispanic Family Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Hispanic families in Middle Tennessee.

Inspiration

I drew inspiration from the Mexican holiday, the Day of the Dead for the main calavera (sugar skull) motif. I was also inspired by the artist Guadalupe Posada and his skull prints. Lace was also an inspiration for me because it exudes a feeling of elegance and glamour, which is what the event organizers wanted for their event.

Process

My process for this project began by interviewing the client to determine his needs for his new brand image. After my initial interview I researched images of sugar skulls and artwork by the artist Guadalupe Posada.

After my research I began to free sketch sugar skulls and other Mexican motifs. I presented some options to my client of which he approved the logo presented on this page.

Aside from the logo, I designed business cards and t-shirts for his business.

This logo is still currently in use.
