Danza Azteca Ollin Quetzalli

This brand identity was created for Nashville Aztec dance group. Ollin Quetzalli means ‘beautiful movement’.

Inspiration

I drew inspiration from the Aztec glyph for ‘movement’, which is called ‘ollin’. For this logo my client wanted something fresh and new. Typical Aztec dance groups stick with brown tones. I wanted to create something simple, modern and memorable.

My process for this project began by interviewing the client to determine her needs for her new brand image. After my initial interview, I researched images of aztec hieroglyphs and modern simple logos.

After my research I began to free sketch different types of different hieroglyphs. After deciding on a style that I liked and the client liked, I proceeded to create the logo in digital form using Adobe Illustrator.

This logo is still currently in use.
